Governor inducts Central Florida’s Bill “Roto” Reuter into Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame

ORLANDO, Fla. — U.S. Navy captain (retired) Bill “Roto” Reuter was inducted into the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Dec. 4, in a ceremony in the Florida Capitol Building in the Governor’s office. Reuter is president of R-Squared Solutions and former commanding officer for the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) and Naval Support Activity-Orlando.

The State of Florida established the Hall of Fame in 2013 to recognize and honor military veterans who, through their work and lives during and after military service, have made a significant contribution to the State of Florida.

“I am extremely honored by this recognition and to be included with such stellar individuals, some of whom served as my mentors,” Reuter said. “Serving in the military provided me with a strong foundation and opened many doors for opportunities for me to grow personally and professionally. As veterans, it is important that we leverage our experience for the benefit of our communities, especially here in our great state of Florida, my home state.”

Raised in Key West, Florida, Reuter attended the University of Florida on a ROTC scholarship and after graduation, was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy. After completing his training for the F/A-18A Hornet, he served multiple deployments on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).  He also spent two tours with the Naval Strike Aircraft Test Squadron before reporting as the Executive Assistant to the Principal Deputy Assistant Security of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition).

He then returned to the test arena as the Chief Test Pilot of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23, and subsequently assumed that command. He then served as the Director for Aircraft Material and Engineering before assuming the executive officer role at NAWCTSD, then becoming NAWCTSD commanding officer from May 2010 to June 2012 to wrap up his stellar military career.

His retirement was but a launchpad as he started his company, R-Squared Solutions, and kicked his servant heart into high gear. He became a strong advocate on behalf of veterans in Central Florida and neighboring regions, serving as a board member and president of the Central Florida Navy League, as well as an active member on the Metro Defense Task Force and mentor for the Camaraderie Foundation, an organization that helps military service members who served post 9-11 that experience post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.

Reuter is passionate about his community service and has continued working with multiple organizations that support veterans.  Currently, he serves as the treasurer for the Florida Defense Contractor Association Board, and as chairman of Samaritan Resource Center, an organization whose goal is to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those in East Orange County.

Reuter also serves on several boards of directors including the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, the National Center for Simulation, and the Central Florida Navy League. He is a member of Representative Stephanie Murphy’s modeling and simulation advisory committee.
