Michigan Unmanned Aerial Systems Consortium (MUASC)

The Michigan Unmanned Aerial Systems Consortium (MUASC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our services address coordinated access for FAA waivers and Certificates of Authorizations (COAs), site reconnaissance, preflight planning activities, safety reviews, ground and air specifics. MUASC is an organization operating since 2013 with a focus of growing, facilitating and shaping crucial infrastructure for commercial UAS activity in Michigan. We provide a channel of connectivity and technical support to various entities within our state by engaging stakeholders from numerous sectors.

MUASC is explicitly tasked with developing key UAS partnerships with public, private and academic organizations. We are the sole air mobility testing partner of PlanetM, for UAS mobility projects in Michigan, with instate and out of state clients. See testing and pilot mobility grants: https://www.planetm.com/test-and-pilot/

MUASC offers 11,000 square miles of airspace dedicated to Research & Development, Certification, Qualification and Systems testing for Commercial UAS. It includes a Military Operations Area (MOA) that belongs to the Air National Guard, with over 30% of airspace extending over Lake Huron.
MUASC is an affiliate of the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA) in support of spaceports in Michigan, and an affiliate to LIFT, Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow. We maintain a partnership with New York’s Griffiss International Airport, an FAA designated test site, as well as a more recent relationship with the Alaska FAA test site. Our test site relationships are unique and provide us the ability to do UAS testing under test site rules with the same prioritized FAA approval processes as the seven FAA UAS Test Sites.

We invite you to partner with us. 235+ Airports | +150-200 Privately owned airports | Special Use Airspace | Multiple Proving Grounds | 670+ Aerospace Companies | Fresh water lakes for flights over water. Michigan was also ranked #4 in the 2019 Aerospace Manufacturing Attractiveness report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (Pwc): https://www.pwc.com/us/en/industries/industrial-products/library/aerospace-manufacturing-attractiveness-rankings.html
