Universal’s motion sickness patent will generate more revenue (by Richard Bilbao)

It’s an interesting effort as theme parks tend to warn guests of any potential negative effects they may experience when on rides — especially motion sickness. In addition, that’s a common side effect on modern rides that use a mix of digital projections or screens as part of the overall experience.

Theme parks have focused on adding more elements to ride vehicles, including “lights, speakers, interactive elements, specialized environments, and/or other features that provide sensory stimulation for the passenger in the ride vehicle to enhance the ride experience,” said the patent.

The reason for tackling motion sickness? Happy customers mean more money.
