NCS New Initiatives Attract Nelson

May 20, 2011. Orlando, Fla. As part of a push to enlist continued support of state and federal lawmakers through focused engagement and targeted updates about Central Florida’s Modeling, Simulation and Training Industry (MS&T) cluster, the National Center for Simulation (NCS), in partnership with the Central Florida Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), co-hosted a breakfast event featuring U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D) last Friday, May 20, at the Radisson Hotel Orlando (UCF).

Nelson spent time updating the group on current news and challenges in Washington, D.C. and giving them a quick look into issues affecting our Nation’s citizens, as well as those most important to Florida.

Friday’s event is part of a series of meetings with government officials organized by NCS, and follows a breakfast event last month with Rep. Sandy Adams (R), Fla. 24th District, on April 26. NCS has also planned time with Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs on May 27 when she tours the Central Florida Research Park, at the invitation of Team Orlando, to learn more about the significant collaboration taking place between government, academia and industry involved in this MS&T Industry cluster. “Periodic updates on the MS&T Industry in Central Florida are vitally important to ensure our elected officials at all levels can speak forcefully in support of this Industry cluster as budget negotiations continue on Capitol Hill,” said Lt Gen (Ret) Thomas L. Baptiste, President/Executive Director, NCS.

The National Center for Simulation is a non-profit regional Trade Association dedicated to providing support to the Central Florida MS&T cluster. NCS provides a strong voice and central location to facilitate innovative community partnering to help grow and enhance a critical segment of a diversified Florida economy.
