2010 Interservice/Industry Golf League (IIGL)

For over 30 years, the Interservice/Industry Golf League has provided a venue for friendly competition and networking with colleagues in the Simulation and Training industry.  The league is currently looking for new teams, or players to help fill up existing teams.

Where:

Determined by league vote before season starts, but we are currently entertaining bids from Stoneybrook East, Eastwood Golf Club, Rio Pinar Country Club, and North Shore Golf Club.

When:

Tuesdays or Wednesdays – Shotgun Start at 1700

Play begins the last week in March (Tues Mar 30th or Wed Mar 31st)

Range balls available prior to play

Why:

Camaraderie, Fun, Networking, and Competition.  It is a great way to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends and colleagues, and to hone your golf game.  Several companies sponsor a “19th Hole” each week where drinks are served and tall tales are told, helping to encourage the fun and camaraderie aspects of the IIGL.

Cost:

Approximately $17.00 – including range balls

Eligibility:

Employees of NAVAIR Orlando Training System Division (Navy), PM TRASYS (Marine Corps), PEO STRI (Army), and AFAMS (Army), Retired Employees, Research Park Contractors, and Friends.

Teams:

Each team can have a maximum of 14 players.  Each week, only 4 players from each team play in head-to-head matches with 4 players from another team.

Format:

The season is divided into two halves, with a Round Robin format for each half.  There is a position nite the last week of each half.  At the end of the 2nd half there are two 9-hole semi-final playoff matches between the 1st and 2nd place finishers of each half.  The winners of those semi-final matches tee it up in two 9-hole final playoff matches for the league championship.

Each team match consists of an A, B, C, and D player from each team playing head-to-head in both stroke and match play.  The stroke play portion of each individual match is worth one point and the match play portion of each individual match is worth one point.  For ties, the points are halved.  In addition to the head-to-head play, the 3 lowest net scores from each team are added and the team with the lowest total receives 3 points.  This makes the total possible points for each team match equal to 11 points.
