Job Description Essential Duties/Functions of the Position:
The primary function of the position is to serve as a project manager for all training effectiveness projects. Current experience with the following agencies is beneficial:
1. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA);
2. Department of Homeland Security (DHS);
3. Federal Law Enforcement, specifically Federal Law Enforcement Training Center;
4. Joint Chiefs of Staff, specifically J8, and J7;
5. Special Operations Command (SOCOM);
6. Department of the Navy, specifically Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Divisions (NAWCTSD);
7. Department of the Marine Corps, specifically Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC Aviation, PP&O, P&R and CD&I), Training and Education Command (TECOM), Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force Training Center (MAGTFTC), Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Program Manager Training Systems (PM TRASYS), Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG), Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1 (MAWTS-1), VMX-1; and
8. Department of the Army, specifically Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Combined Arms Center (CAC), Army Research Lab (ARL), RDECOM, and PEO STRI.
Types of Tasks:
- Delivery of world class assessment products that meet and exceed customer expectations and result in contract renewal and customer referrals;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with existing customers through professional and proactive communication which will include participating in regular meetings, traveling to customer training centers of excellence, as well as traveling to priority conferences such as the Chemical Biological Defense Science and Technology (CBD S&T) Conference, and the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC);
- Mentoring and leading lab staff to include faculty, OPS and graduate research assistants;
- Managing deliverable timelines across all lab projects;
- Tracking all project deliverables and associated electronic and hard paperwork (e.g., IRB, experimental documents, data collected);
- Managing resource (e.g., lab space, physiological sensors, robots) availability for experiment data collection;
- Learning lab research and operations by reviewing lab documents, reading publications, and running participants;
- Developing demo and presentation materials for presentation of research findings;
- Presenting lab capabilities and current research projects to visitors;
- Maintaining generic proposal materials and the awarded proposals for executing deliverable timelines and quality assurance;
- Assisting in developing and executing plans to carry-out project deliverables; and
- Providing research content for distributable materials.
Position Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of academic research achievement, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with 5 to 10 years of professional research experience.
Specific skills required include resource and project management. A person filling this role should have demonstrated performance in successful account delivery and sponsor relationship coordination for Department of Defense (DoD). Demonstrated performance in requirements development, fielding, testing and assessment of multi-million dollar aircraft, weapons, ground combat vehicles and communication operational and training systems. Demonstrated performance building, developing, leading and managing multi-discipline high performance teams focused on cost, schedule and performance acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of complex systems designed to meet validated DoD requirements.
Preferences Preferred experience includes knowledge of account/project management tools and techniques. Also preferred is expertise in developing demos, presentations, and materials for conveying research deliverables from funded projects. Experience in a technical field will be beneficial, particularly as it relates to testing and assessment of networks, communication systems and cybersecurity. An interest in participating in all research program phases, from contract execution to sponsor meetings to deliverables tracked to participant data collection is preferred.
Special Conditions U.S. citizenship and the ability to attain security clearance is required due to the nature of research performed.
This is a full-time, 12-month position supported by contracts and grants funding (C&G) and is contingent upon available funding.
This position involves some travel.
