The Anne Arundel Community College School of Health Sciences is seeking an influential and dynamic leader to serve as the Director of Simulation Education. The ideal
candidate for the Director of Simulation Education is motivated to innovate, create and drive simulations in a myriad of health professions and create interprofessional
initiatives. This person will be a forward-moving visionary with a commitment to simulation education. This person will look for opportunities to incorporate other professions
within the college community and with external constituents to join in learning simulation opportunities.
Primary responsibilities include planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning across the continuum from standardized patients through highfidelity
simulators. This position requires an individual who can develop curriculum, provide simulation training to faculty and staff and forge new external relations and
The Director of Simulation Education for the School of Health Sciences will be responsible for all aspects of management and operations of the School’s Simulation Center.
Leads the integration of simulation/instructional technologies throughout the School of Health Sciences programs. Mentors faculty, clinicians, and staff in the design of
curriculum involving clinical simulation and ensures instruction is consistent with national professional standards for clinical practice in each Health Sciences discipline
Designs, implements, evaluates, and standardizes educational programs for faculty/staff development in the use of clinical simulation, debriefing, and assessment.
Develops and maintains the policy and procedure manual for the Simulation Center.
Collects data on learning outcomes for simulation exercises and collaborates with faculty/staff on disseminating findings. Institutes continuous quality improvement
strategies for simulation program improvement and facilitates comprehensive evaluations of the Health Sciences Simulation Center to promote growth and development.
Collaborates with faculty/staff in reporting of program activities, standards, accreditation requirements, external meetings, educational concerns, and student/staff
successes; and prepares for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare accreditation.
Builds external partnerships and seeks interprofessional opportunities to enhance simulation.
Provides leadership with responsibility, accountability, efficiency, integrity-based communication, problem solving, and team building with internal and external
Manages all simulation technology. Identifies and implements solutions to problems related to simulation equipment, computer hardware and software. Responsible for
the maintenance of simulation center, manikins and equipment.
Provides technical support, set-up and break down of the simulation labs. Operates computer hardware and audio-video recording systems and simulation equipment with
the ability to follow medical aspects of scenario and make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions.
Contracts and schedules simulation patients.
Provides training to faculty/staff on the operation of simulation equipment and the simulation center policies and procedures.
Repairs and maintains equipment as required or initiates repairs for equipment under warranty. Communicates with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repairs, updates
and technology changes.
Creates and maintains annual Simulation Center budget and is responsible for Simulation Center inventory of supplies and equipment.
Supervises Simulation Center technicians and collaborates with the School of Health Sciences Clinical Laboratory Manager.
