Defense-industry giant Lockheed Martin Corp. is dramatically expanding its Orlando-based high-tech training division's footprint by adding operations in Maryland and California to the local organization, the company said Wednesday.
Waymon Armstrong, the owner of a small business that uses computer simulations to help government and private sector clients prepare for and respond to natural disasters, medical emergencies and combat, was today named National Small Business Person of the Year by Karen Mills, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Mills made the announcement during ceremonies at SBA's celebration of National Small Business Week 2010.
Aegis Technologies was recently awarded a three year contract for the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit (AFMSTT) estimated by the Air Force to be worth $74 million. AEgis will be hosting a Career Fair at its Orlando office in order to find personnel to support this contract. AEgis is currently recruiting for the following positions: Exercise Support, Software Developer/Software Engineer, and Quality Assurance and Configuration Management.

The Orlando based National Center for Simulation (NCS) announced today the establishment of a special interest group (SIG) focused on medical modeling and simulation. The group will bring a wide range of medical modeling and simulation and related technology expertise together to collaborate on the development of solutions addressing the growing requirement for medical education, training and the continuum of care.
With the establishment of this special interest group, NCS will connect its already world-renowned simulation industry cluster to the medical community and Orlando's emerging 'Medical City,' which includes the College of Medicine at UCF, the Burnham Institute and the new VA and Nemours hospitals.
