The region's leaders need to capitalize on simulation in health care

Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty was joined by other Central Florida leaders and Gov. Charlie Crist this week to celebrate AirTran Airways' new operations center in Orlando, and the airline's plan to base 100 pilots in the city. For an economy hungry for new jobs, it was a welcome serving of good news.

Status of the UCF Veterans Commemorative Site

Dear patriots and fellow veterans,

Greetings!  As we just finished celebrating Memorial Day 2010, I thought it would be a great time to provide you this update on the construction status of the UCF Veterans Commemorative Site. This incredible tribute to all veterans--past, present and future--will soon highlight the south end of Memory Mall with a powerful, dignified and enduring recognition of the honorable service and noble sacrifices of our nation’s veterans on behalf of the American people and freedom-loving individuals around the world.

Call for Papers for the SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing Symposium in Orlando 25-29 April 2011

The 2011 SPIE Defense, Security + Sensing Symposium will be held at the Marriott World Center in Orlando April 25-29.

 The Symposium call for papers is at: http://spie.org/dss and abstracts are requested by 11 October 2010.

CAPT William "Roto" Reuter talks with Richard Burnett, Orlando Sentinel

Capt. William "Roto" Reuter, 49, is the newly appointed commander of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, the Navy's largest simulation-training development agency, based in east Orange County. He spoke with Sentinel staff writer Richard Burnett.

Research park adapts to anti-terrorism makeover
