Cybersecurity Requirements in the Federal Market Space – Mary Beth Bosco, Partner, Holland & Knight
Following an amendment of the DFARS in late 2013, as well as various pieces of legislation and agency-specific regulations and clauses, government contractors are subject to a host of new compliance requirements with respect to the handling of sensitive unclassified data and cyber breach disclosure requirements. This presentation will provide an overview of the relationship between President Obama’s Cybersecurity Executive Order, the DOD/GSA Cybersecurity Acquisition Memorandum, existing legislation and individual agency actions. In addition to existing requirements, the seminar will focus on likely future regulation and cybersecurity procurement trends.
Government Contractor Strategies for Dealing with Government Budget Cuts – Terry Elling, Partner, Holland & Knight
Reduced budgets and lapses in federal agency appropriations and funding have become a “fact of life” in recent years. These phenomena create a number of additional challenges for government contractors, including de-scoping of requirements and early termination of contracts; delayed contract awards; short-term extensions of contracts rather than exercising annual options; more frequent obligation of lower levels of funding on incrementally funded contracts; and many other contract award and administration challenges. This presentation will provide insight into the reasons underlying many of these issues and offer effective approaches for dealing with them.
