Florida Engineering Society / Central Florida Chapter Scholarship Picnic

Please join the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society on March 5th as they host a picnic fundraiser.  Each year FES selects six scholarship recipients who are either attending or will be attending a Florida University. Our FES chapter’s scholarship fund was founded over 15 years ago and to-date has given over $50,000 to Florida engineering students enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program.  Read the invitation and directions to the event by opening the file below.

MOSI AWARDED $1 + MILLION GRANT FROM NASA

MOSI AWARDED $1 + MILLION GRANT FROM NASA

Tampa, FL (January 18, 2010) –MOSI is one of nine institutions nationwide to receive the 2009 NASA Competitive Program for Science Museums & Planetariums.   MOSI will receive a $1,155,648 grant to create an innovative, hands-on, multimedia exhibition titled: Mission LEAP (Lunar Expedition for Astronaut Pioneers)

Mission LEAP will allow MOSI guests to experience a simulated lunar outpost. While on this outpost, they can participate in the NASA vision of living on worlds beyond earth using an interactive immersive environment. Guests will discover what is needed to construct and maintain a lunar base for human habitation.

We have been given the opportunity to participate in a new and exciting adventure into the STEM  virtual world (VW). The State of Florida is interested in providing student internships via a virtual experience. The architect of this journey is Pam Tedesco the State of Florida STEM Coordinator.

Orlando Science Center S.C.

The Science Challenge, which is intended to encourage excellence in science education, provides an intermediate event between the county science fairs and the State Science Fair. It operates  under the international Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) rules.  The participants are the first place winners in the physical science competitions in county science fairs in the eight surrounding counties ( Brevard, Lake, Orange , Polk, Osceola, Marion, Seminole and Volusia ). The event is held at the Orlando Science Center on Saturday, March 13th 2010  from 8am till 4pm.  A lunch is provided for the judges.  The awards are presented on Saturday at 3pm.
